ADJECTIVES INTRODUCTION

Materials

• Adjectives Lesson - Use the printable lesson for your lesson plan, or use as a lesson supplement.

Procedure:

1. Read lesson and discuss examples.
2. Allow students time to complete the exercises.
3. Discuss answers to exercises.

Students should read the lesson, and complete the worksheet. As an option, teachers may also use the lesson as part of a classroom lesson plan.

Excerpt from Lesson:

An adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. Adjectives tell you what the person, place or thing is like. Adjectives can tell you about size, color, number or kind. They make sentences more descriptive – that is, more interesting!

For example, the word dog is a noun. But what kind of dog is it? What color is it? Is it a big dog or a small dog? If you say
the big, brown, furry dog you have used three adjective to describe the dog. The words big, brown and furry are adjectives.
