LESSON 3: PLOT AND CONFLICT

 

 

Goal: To familiarize students with the concepts of plot and conflict in fiction.

 

Objective: Students will be able to identify the plot and conflict or conflicts in various examples of fiction.

 

Grade Level: 3rd through 6th

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CREATIVE WRITING: PLOT AND CONFLICT

 

Procedure:


1. Read and discuss the lesson with students.  The lesson may be printed from that page.


2. Provide copies of the activity page (below) for students to complete.


3. Have students share their responses to the items on the activity page.


4. Provide feedback for student responses.

 

 

Student Assessment:

Description of conflict(s) from samples of fiction and completed answers to questions on about conflict.

Lesson 3: Plot and Conflict Print this lesson to discuss with students. The conflict is the problem faced by the main character. Most stories have a main conflict and other, smaller problems that the character faces along the way.
