Lesson Excerpt:

I. Fraction Review

- "Today, we are going to continue solving equations, but this time, the equations will have fractions in them. So, the first thing that we are going to do is review fractions."

- Encourage class participation as you review. Write student answers on the board and encourage students to talk the class through certain problems. If everyone seems very familiar with the fractions, move through this very quickly. If not, take your time or the students will need a lot of assistance when it comes to solving the equations with the fractions.

- "First, let's remember that when we are talking about fractions, that we are talking about parts of a whole. Parts being added, subtracted, multiplied or divided. This isn't going to change when we see them in equations. The big difference now is that there is going to be a variable that we will need to figure out or solve for."
