Objectives:

• To understand how humans adapt to variations in their physical environment [the human/environment interaction].

Suggested Grades:
2nd Grade - 3rd Grade - 4th Grade

 

  

 

Lesson Procedure:

Print the lesson plan (see below).

Lesson Excerpt:

Materials: Social Studies class textbook Geography chapter [key terms section], copies of the novel: The Swiss Family Robinson, copies of the “Story Web” graphic organizer worksheet 3A, a video of The Swiss Family Robinson [with approval by instructor – Disney film]; copies of the USDA Food Pyramid [www.mypryamid.gov].

Timeline: 2 Weeks

Instructional Procedures:

1. Students define the key terms for the Geography/Human Interaction chapter/section in their notebooks.
2. Teacher discusses the definitions of the key terms; Students write one sentence for each key term.
